Keshi To Defend World Cup Provisional List
On April 26
News of list has already been in the center of
media coverage for weeks, with both the technical committee and the coach
appearing to have collision on the choice of players. Chairman of the technical committee, Chris Green
has recently stated:
"While we believe that only players that
are playing well for their clubs should be invited because the World Cup is not
a tea party, our job is a simple task. Keshi has the overall decision on
who goes to Brazil and fits into his World Cup plan."
Meanwhile one of the committe members, who
pleaded anonymity, told Leadership that they would not allow Keshi to name any
of his misfire CHAN player for Brazil’s World Cup.
According to him, the committee will ensure that
"the players the coach will invite for the World Cup merit the
invitation". It would be recalled that the renowned Nigerian
coach had previously mentioned that he may give opportunity to some of the boys
that distinguished themselves in the South Africa’s tournament to fight for
place in his World Cup squad.
As for the current attitude towards Keshi, the
indications have recently emerged that the NFF may sack the coach after 2014
Brazil because of him neglecting their advice and assistance ahead of the
tournament.
